Short version: we collect only the data needed to run the platform, and we never sell your data.

What we collect

  • From Google sign-in: name, email, profile photo.
  • From you: phone number, gender, city, budget. For owners: PG details and photos.
  • Automatically: how many times a listing was viewed (an aggregate count).

How we use it

  • To create your account and sign you in.
  • To connect seekers with owners — an owner’s phone number is shown to signed-in users.
  • To check a listing where we can — see what we can and cannot confirm.
  • To improve the platform.

What is public

For owners: the PG name, area, city, rent, deposit, amenities, photos and your name appear on the listing. The phone number is shown only to signed-in users — to keep spam out.

For seekers: your name, email and phone never appear on any listing. The owner only learns what you tell them yourself over a call or WhatsApp.

Where the data lives

Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. Listings and account records are stored with Supabase, and photos with Cloudinary. Their security and infrastructure practices apply to the data they hold. All three are outside India; by using the site you accept that your data is processed there.

What we can and cannot confirm

Please read this before relying on anything you see here.

PG Bazar is a listings platform. We are not the owner, landlord, operator or agent of any property, and we do not manage, inspect, let or take money for any of them.

Listing information — rent, deposit, address, amenities, photos, availability, the owner's name and number — comes from the person or source that supplied it. It is not independently confirmed by us unless a listing carries a badge that says so, and even then the badge means only what its own description says: that we made a check at a point in time. Things change, and a listing can be out of date, incomplete or simply wrong.

So, plainly: we cannot and do not guarantee that any listing is accurate, currently available, legally compliant, or that the person you speak to is who they say they are. We make no promise about the condition or safety of a property, the conduct of an owner, tenant or service provider, or the outcome of any dealing between you and them.

Before you pay anything or sign anything: visit in person, meet the owner, see the original documents, and take your own advice. Do not transfer a deposit or token amount on the strength of a listing, a photo or a phone call. We never ask for rent or a deposit and we never hold your money — anyone claiming to collect it on our behalf is not us. Our safety guide sets out what to check.

Any agreement you reach is between you and the other person, directly. We are not a party to it, we take no commission from it, and we cannot enforce it, refund it or intervene in a dispute over it. Service providers listed under Daily needs are independent businesses, not ours and not our employees or contractors.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we accept no liability for loss, cost or harm arising from a listing, from information on this site, or from any dealing it led to. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing here removes rights you have under India's consumer law.

Tell us if something is wrong. If a listing is inaccurate, taken, duplicated, or is not the lister's property to offer, report it and we will look and take it down where warranted. That reporting route is how this stays honest, and we would rather hear about it.

What the “Verified” badge means

The paragraph above says the badge means only what its own description says. This is that description, in plain terms: it is a low bar, and it is not an inspection.

A large part of what is listed here did not start with us. It came from third-party sources — suppliers and collectors of property data — and some of them described what they gave us as already verified. We are not in a position to redo that work listing by listing, and we do not claim to have done it. Where a listing came to us that way, its details are that source's, not ours.

What a badge on a listing actually rests on is some combination of: we hold a phone number that reaches the person offering the property; the details we were given are internally consistent and nothing we could see contradicted them; and, for some listings and not all — chosen by us, not exhaustively — somebody here spoke to the owner on the phone.

What it does not mean: we have not necessarily visited the property, seen the rooms, met anyone in person, seen ownership papers or a rent agreement, or confirmed the rent, the deposit, how many beds are actually free, the amenities claimed, or that the photos are current, complete, or of that property at all. A badge is not a recommendation, a rating, a safety check, or a statement that the place is legally compliant.

So please read it as “there is a real contact behind this listing” rather than “this has been checked and is true”. Everything in the section above still applies to a badged listing exactly as it does to any other: visit in person, see the documents, and pay nothing on the strength of what you read here. If something on a listing is wrong — badged or not — tell us and we will look.

We don’t sell your data

We do not sell or rent your personal data to advertisers, brokers or data brokers. Ever.

Your rights

  • View and edit: update your details from the profile page.
  • Delete: to delete your account, write to us — we’ll remove your data and listings.

Cookies and local storage

Only what the site needs to work: your sign-in session, whether you have accepted the contact terms, your saved listings, and a short-lived copy of search results so a page does not re-download them. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, and no analytics — we do not currently run any.
